J. Scott Berry: Owner, Esthetician, Make-up Artist, Educator

J. Scott Berry, age 39, was born and raised in nearby Sumter County where he still lives on his family’s farm. A graduate of South Sumter High School and Lake Sumter Community College, it was at L-SCC that Scott became interested in skin care and makeup. While fulfilling a lifelong passion with theater he met Monica Leedom who introduced him to skin care and makeup artistry.

In 1992 he moved to Jacksonville to pursue a B.F.A. degree in Musical Theater and Directing. While in Jacksonville, Scott taught and followed his theater dream as a director in a variety of theaters, winning many awards for his efforts and talents. Scott became a professional makeup artist, also working in a beauty salon and in area theaters.

In 2001 Scott returned to this area to be closer to his family and to follow another dream of his; to pursue a career in makeup and skin care. While working at Totally You “The Day Spa”, Scott spent a great deal of time in community organizations and volunteering in a variety of areas, including Leesburg’s Mardi Gras, The Leesburg Partnership, and most recently, organizing a Fashion Show fundraiser for Children’s Advocacy Center.

Scott also recently accepted an invitation to serve on the Foundation Board at Lake-Sumter Community College and looks forward to helping them to raise money for scholarships and hopefully fine arts programs.

Always one to look for education opportunities as both an educator and participant, Scott is continually planning some form of continuing education. He has spoken at various community organizations in Lake County, including the Leesburg Newcomer’s Club for Women, Mt. Dora Kiwanis and Mt. Dora Women’s Club.

Scott recently taught a class at the International Esthetics, Cosmetics & Spa Conference in Las Vegas (the largest skin care show in the USA) and is currently serving the National Cosmetology Association (NCA) as the designer of the 2004 Fall Esthetics Release.
